Sweeney shared the screenshot of the notice sent to him by Facebook on Twitter. The notice said that Sweeney's page tracking Musk's private plane was not displayed because it violated the relevant policies of Facebook Pages. A Facebook spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Sweeney is a student at the University of Central Florida. His page tracking private planes of celebrities such as Musk and Zuckerberg was also restricted in the past. Facebook pages may be deleted because of misleading content, hate speech or violation of website community standards, including "content that may damage personal safety".

Previously, Sweeney had argued that he did not believe that these accounts constituted a major security threat because these data could already be obtained through public air traffic tracking websites such as ADS-B Exchange. He also said that he just put the data on Twitter through the robot that grabs the website.

Sweeney doesn't have any other private airplane tracking accounts on Facebook. However, Instagram, also owned by Meta, the parent company of Facebook, did not delete the duplicate @ elonmusksjet account. In contrast, the Instagram page has only about 11000 followers, while the @ ElonJet account on Twitter has nearly 500000 followers.
