中国：对汇率施压不会有帮助 China Says Pressure Over Currency Not Helpful
在美国考虑就贸易问题对中国采取更强硬立场时，中国表示将不会屈服于其他国家的压力而放松对人民币的管制。
中国外交部发言人姜瑜星期四表示，人民币升值将不会解决美国对中国的高额贸易逆差，也解决不了美国国内的高失业率问题。姜瑜警告说，这种施压不仅解 决不了问题，反而可能会适得其反。姜瑜发表此番言论的几个小时之后，美国财政部长盖特纳就要在两个国会委员会前就这一议题作证。
盖特纳在事先准备好的证词中对国会议员表示，北京允许人民币升值的步伐过于缓慢，并且“允许升值的幅度也太有限”。
China says it will not give in to pressure from other countries to loosen control over its currency, as the U.S. considers a tougher stance with China on trade issues.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Jiang Yu said Thursday the appreciation of the yuan would not solve the massive U.S. trade deficit with China, or the high unemployment rate in the U.S. Jiang warned that such pressure would not only fail, but could backfire.The spokesman made the comments hours before U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner was set to testify before two congressional committees about the issue.
In prepared testimony, Geithner will tell lawmakers the pace of Beijing's allowing the yuan to appreciate has been too slow, and "the extent of appreciation too limited."
