英国外交大臣：中国同意就核项目问题向伊朗施压 (Britain FM: China Agrees to Press Iran About Nuclear Programs)
英国外交大臣米利班德说，英国和中国一致认为有必要就核项目问题向伊朗施压，但同时要谋求同德黑兰接触。米利班德星期一在上海表示，确保伊朗遵守联合国安理会决议案符合英国和中国的利益。联合国安理会决议寻求遏制伊朗的核活动。中国是联合国安理会常任理事国之一。中国抵制其他常任理事国要对伊朗核项目采取更加严厉制裁的呼吁。
米利班德正在对中国进行短暂访问。他访问的目的是促进英国和中国的双边关系。离开上海后，米利班德将前往北京，同中国外长杨洁篪讨论伊朗的核项目和其它议题。米利班德还将于星期二会见中国总理温家宝。伊朗说，它的核项目是用于和平用途，但是西方国家说，伊朗在试图制造核武器。
British Foreign Secretary David Miliband says Britain and China agree on the need to press Iran about its nuclear programs while also seeking engagement with Tehran. Speaking in Shanghai Monday, Miliband said Britain and China share an interest in making sure Iran abides by the U.N. Security Council resolutions seeking to curb its nuclear activities. China is one of five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council. It has resisted calls from other council members for harsher sanctions against Iran's nuclear program.
Foreign Secretary Miliband is on a brief tour of China to boost bilateral relations. After leaving Shanghai, he travels to Beijing to discuss Iran's nuclear program and other issues with his Chinese counterpart, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi. Miliband also will meet with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabo on Tuesday. Iran says its nuclear program is peaceful, but Western nations say Iran is attempting to build nuclear weapons.
